Plant Printing Workshop
Sunday 26th April
12pm – 4pm
Come and learn to use plants to make simple prints from the plant pigments with Tina Scopa.
The purpose of this workshop is to discover delight, surprise and wonder in the forms and pigments of plants. The plants selected are those that generate spontaneously without human intervention and cultivation. Mostly we regard these as ‘weeds’ and view them negatively. By choosing to pay attention to these plants with the purpose of increasing our understanding of these life forms we are drawn to marvel at their existence.
The workshop will begin with a walk to collect the plants, noticing how and where they grow, and generally enjoying a walk through the garden. We will use the plants collected to make very simple prints onto paper where the plants will ‘draw’ themselves, so no drawing or art skills are required. However, as a good amount of pressure is required to make the prints, this may not be suitable for participants with very weak wrists, hands, or arms. We will be mostly standing although chairs will be available if required. Depending on the weather we will either work on tables outside or inside.
Please note that we will be handling plants, soil and plant juices. Gloves may be brought and worn if participants have sensitivities to these materials.
Price of £25 per person includes tuition and all materials on the day as well as tea/coffee. Lunch is not provided, but soup and filled rolls are available from the Stables Cafe.
