“Wild Yoga”- Wild Self…
Put on your walking shoes and connect to the 5 elements (earth, water, fire, air and ether) with yoga off the mat in the beautiful surroundings of Falkland Estate. In all but extreme weather conditions this practice will take place outside. Includes yoga sequences, asanas, breathing, meditations and weather permitting, Wild Yoga Nidra.

Within the yoga and Ayurveda philosophies everything in nature is made up of 5 basic elements: earth, water, fire, air and ether (space). Earth being the most dense to the subtlest element of ether.

We are all made of these 5 elements in varying degrees giving us each unique constitutions. When the elements of our body and being are out of balance we are at risk of disease and varying degrees of suffering in our lives. When our elements within are balanced and stable we feel strong and secure – more able to flow with the ups and downs of our lives.

An additional benefit to these practices is that they deepen our sense of connection with all around and within us in this great beautiful planet – a sense of our interdependence with each other…

Over the millennia we have moved from an earth based spirituality to a culture where generally we feel and believe ourselves to be separate and superior to nature. Dominated by patriarchal influences, the masculine seen as superior to the feminine principle, and the earth is suffering damage as a result. Re-connection to the seasons and cycles of nature brings a change in perspective. We see ourselves once more in relationship with the Earth, Moon and Sun. Today we begin this process of re-connection through the 5 Elements.

Throughout our practice please take the opportunity to focus on you – to sit in awareness of yourself in relation to our explorations. Reflect on how you might choose to integrate the 5 elements into your own practice/daily living?

Experience how being outside can intensify our experience of yoga. Nature inspires focused awareness, deep breathing and stillness…

We will commence our practice at The Stables, Falkland Estate, before taking fairly short meditative walks to connect with the 5 element of yoga – earth, water, fire air and ether (space).

The day will end with the practice of yoga nidra, the deep sleep of the yogis… If weather is poor our practice of yoga nidra will take place indoors.
