A Twilight Concert in the Memorial Chapel

A Twilight Concert in the Memorial Chapel

Saturday 30th June

6.30pm – 8.45pm

In the atmospheric setting of the roofless Chapel, as dusk falls – enjoy this special programme of acoustic music performed in the open air, within the intimacy of the Chapel walls.
Two Fife-based musical pairings.

Rebecca Sharp & Emil Thompson:
Clarsach (Celtic harp) & guitar. Stirring contemporary compositions that harness the intricacy and resonance of both instruments.
Rebecca Sharp is a writer, artist and musician; she performs original compositions for the clarsach (Celtic harp), as well as composing scores for other creative projects – plays, performances, recordings and film. Musically, she has performed throughout the UK, including with Poets & Players (Manchester), Platform Poetry (Ladybank), The Wordsworth Trust, Solfest (Cumbria), Sound City Liverpool, Liverpool Music Week, Hospitalfield (Arbroath), on BBC Radio Merseyside and BBC Radio 3.
“fragile and ornately crafted compositions… reminiscent of Joanna Newsom.” (Herald Scotland)
“a delightful shower of chimes, harmonics and soaring chord progressions… utterly beguiling.” (BBC Manchester). www.rebeccajoysharp.com

Emil Thompson is a musician and visual artist; he has led several community music and song-writing projects in response to local history and environment. He incorporates sound and music in many of his artistic projects; and performs regularly as one half of the Americana/folk duo The Yonderlees.

Shamblestone:
An entertaining and innovative multi-instrumentalist folk duo, rooted in the Scottish tradition. Featuring fiddles, spine-tingling vocal harmonies and more.
Joanna Stark and Elisabeth Flett first started playing together in 2008 as part of folk trio Three’s A Crowd (Cambridge Folk Festival 2013 Youth Hub Band Artists) and have performed across the UK ever since. “A dazzling live act! A highly accomplished multi-instrumentalist folk duo with sweet vocal harmonies…Elisabeth and Joanna take the audience on a magical journey through many musical styles, contemporary and traditional, demonstrating their skills on a multitude of instruments and vocals along the way” (Hypercoaster Music)
